Easter 2027: Dates and Where to Go
Easter Sunday 2027 is 28 March, which makes it an early one. That has real consequences for a camping trip: cheaper, quieter, and considerably colder than an Easter in late April.

Easter moves because it is set by a lunar calculation, the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the spring equinox, so it can fall anywhere between 22 March and 25 April. In 2027 it lands near the early end of that range.
What an early Easter means
This is the practical part, and it is why the date matters rather than just the dates. Late March in Britain is not spring in any reliable sense.
- It will be cold. Late March overnight temperatures are routinely near freezing inland and on high ground. This is not canvas weather.
- Some sites will not be open. A lot of seasonal campsites open at Easter or on 1 April, whichever is later, and in 2027 Easter comes first. Check opening dates rather than assuming.
- Prices are lower. Early Easters sit outside peak pricing at most sites.
- It is much quieter than a late-April Easter, when the weather is better and everyone comes out.
- Daylight is decent. With the clocks going forward on the Sunday, you get proper evenings for the Monday.

Where to go in late March
Aim low and aim south, or aim for somewhere the weather is part of the appeal rather than an obstacle.
- Kent and the South Downs: the mildest corner of the country, and the best beaches in Kent are at their emptiest.
- The Peak District: the Monsal Trail is flat, surfaced and just as good in cold weather.
- Northern Ireland: over half the sites have hot tubs, which is the right ratio for March.
- Northumberland: dark skies are still genuinely dark in late March; by June they are not. See stargazing sites.
- Waterfalls: high water after winter rain. The best waterfalls in Wales are at their most impressive now, not in August.
